Dell XPS M2010
Dell sort of broke the mold with this one. They're not usually known for innovative design, but this mobile' unit is like none of the others. It's a true desktop replacement solution, and runs a 2.33GHz Intel Core 2 Duo, 2GB DDR2 RAM, ATI Mobility Radeon X1800 graphics card, and boasts a 20' LCD running a native resolution of 1680x1050. It's a beast in every sense of the word- an 18 pound, almost 19' wide monster.
There's a lot to like in the M2010. If you so choose, you can boost the RAM to 4GB (and add a couple grand to the price tag in the process), run 120GB SATA hard drives mirrored in RAID-1 (as the above configuration shows), and have a great screen with a resolution that is perfectly matched for it.
There are a couple of things I question about this model, however. First and foremost, I question the usefulness of the M2010 as a mobile' unit, as it has been marketed by Dell. I suppose you could fold the screen down, pick the thing up and lug it somewhere, but its sheer size makes that seem very unlikely in real world practice. It appears like it would be more at home on some yuppie's minimalist glass desk than in a student's book bag or on a commuter train. I would hesitate to brand it as a mobile' unit as it more closely resembles an all-in-one or small form factor (SFF) computer.
Also, since the unit is so large, I don't know why Dell didn't choose a better (or newer generation) video card. They could have fit a bigger, faster card that produces more heat inside because size (and heat dissipation) is not as much of an issue when you have 19' to work with.
The system is a design marvel, but the limited mobility makes it somewhat of an overpriced desktop system, as you can get a better SFF desktop for a lot less.

Toshiba Tecra A10, M10 laptops are in Store Now
If you’re thinking of buying a new laptops, perhaps these two latest edition from Toshiba giant can be a good option. With a price of $1249 , which is a bit lower than the initial offer, for the A10 and $1100 for the M10, these two have all the things jammed into them.
Check out their specs, and see whether you agree that it is worth the price tag.
The Tecra A10 has a powerful 2.4GHz Intel Core 2 Duo P8600 processors, built-in camera, 2GB DDR2 SDRAM (fast enough to process any data), a whooping 160GB Hard disk with a 7200rpm disk speed, and others stuffs such as Bluetooth, Toshiba’s Easy Guard Technology and a Li-on battery that you can use for 3 hours. Windows Vista Business comes with it and if you think that it is too fancy, you can have it downgraded to the more modest XP Professional. A 15.4-inch screen with WSXGA+ resolution and for the video card it has an NVIDIA’s Quadro NVS in it.
As for the Tecra M10, it has all the specs the A10 has except for the screen and the video card. The M10 has a smaller 14.1-inch TFT LCD with WXGA+ resolution and an Intel GM45 integrated graphics chip for the video card. And the hard disk runs a little bit slower, 5400rpm.

HP selling laptop in messenger bag at Walmart
It looks like HP is doing its part for the environment and, possibly, thieves with its new Pavilion dv6929wm laptop, which does away with the usual excessive packaging and will instead be sold simply in a specially designed "HP Protect" messenger bag. That idea actually came about through a Walmart initiative that asked companies to produce a product that would reduce environmental impact, which HP won, and has now resulted in the laptop being sold exclusively at Walmart stores and Sam's Club locations. Unfortunately, there's not much word on the specs for the laptop itself just yet but, at $798, we wouldn't exactly expect a powerhouse.

Panasonic Toughbook CF-52 Tough As Nails
The Panasonic Toughbook CF-52 follows the long line of Toughbook laptops that are favored by the military for their well, toughness. This laptop possesses the same rugged features and looks but this time with more consumer appeal. At $3,300 you get the same old tough laptop but this time with the modern features possessed by its competitors. It sure has an intimidating street price but quality does have a price.
With an Intel Core 2 Duo T7300 processor with a speed of 2GHz the Panasonic Toughbook CF-52 is well-equipped and is capable of running all the basic program you need for your business and more. It has a 1GB RAM and an unbelievable 400GB storage capacity. That and the almost giant 15.4-inch widescreen display could perhaps explain the heavy 7.4 pound weight of this laptop. It promises great images with the ATI Mobility Radeon X2300HD graphics card.
One nice touch in the Panasonic Toughbook CF-52 is the attached briefcase handle which is made possible by the durable exterior molding and framework of the laptop. And just like the typical briefcase, your Panasonic Toughbook CF-52 can be susceptible to accidental bumps but no worries because its chassis has thicker layers of magnesium alloy for protection.

Sony debuts dual-box HD-editing PC
Sony has taken the wraps off a desktop system that contains not only system unit but two, one for the bulk of the PC's innards, the other for the optical drives - one of which is a Blu-ray Disc unit.
Aimed at HD content editors and dubbed the Vaio RM1N, the PC packs in a four-core Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 processor, 2GB of DDR 2 memory, a pair of 500GB 7200rpm SATA hard drives configured in a RAID 0 set-up for speed, and an Nvidia GeForce 8600 GTS graphics card.
The system unit has room for up to four more SATA hard disks, and there are three open PCI-Express slots capable of taking full-length cards.
The main unit also incorporates Gigabit Ethernet, which is realistically something you'd connect and leave. Not so the front-facing four USB and one four-pin Firewire ports, so you're either going to be reaching under the desk every time you want to connect a USB key or digital camera, or you're going to want the system unit on your desk too, which kind of defeats the object of the split design.
Still, the system does come with a pair of colour-coordinated speakers and a standalone jog-dial control to use with the bundled Adobe Premiere Pro 2.0 video editing software. The RM1N runs Windows Vista Business.

HP pavilion dv2600
Brown is rarely found on laptops these days, so it's refreshing to see that HP dipped into Adobe Illustrator's colourbox when designing this model, and chose something for their paintbrush other than 'black beauty', 'Mazda silver' or 'crimson lipstick'. ECS showing `Smart Neck` Laptop at CeBIT
You might want to look again at the photo. That’s a laptop you’re looking at. The screen folds down, folds up, and folds into flatness for you to carry, just like the laptop you already have.
This standard-bending design is from Elitegroup Computer Systems, which will present four new laptop series at CeBIT that run on either Windows XP or Vista. Each has a one-letter designation: S, L, H, and G.
The bottom-of-the-line model is the S, which has an LCD of 12.1 or 14.1, a Core 2 Duo processor, and a built-in 1.3 megapixel camera. Next up is the L series, which has a larger screen (14.1 to 17 inches) and not much else to offer.
Finally, we get to that screen-bender, the G. ECS calls it a “smart neck,” but it’s bound to get other people’s necks sore craning to see how it does its thing. The screen can be lifted, tilted, or swiveled in a full circle.
The top of the line is the H series, a true UMPC series. The showcase at CeBIT will be the H70, which adds a 7-inch touchscreen (complete with stylus) and a 4-in-1 card reader to an already impressive offering.

hp-make-up_gewlj_5965
Nikita Buyanov made a bunch of concept laptops for HP-Intel, custom made specifically for women. The laptops come with a range of interesting features, aimed at the fairer sex. There’s some crazy stuff. Like laptops that double as weighing machines, some that carry makeup, with features like mirror mode and a built-in on-nail printing device. The Chameleon, for instance, changes color to blend with its surroundings.
The one that would likely be most offensive to women is pictured above, HP Makeup. It’s obscenely pink and if you press the big button, the screen will change to mirror mode so they can apply makeup. It also has an on-nail printing device.
They always assume that women will flock to it if you make it pink and incorporate cosmetics, cuz in their mind, that’s all that women are about. But I know better ladies. Call me…

Compaq Laptop
In November 1982 Compaq announced their first product, the Compaq Portable, a portable IBM PC compatible personal computer. It was released in March 1983 at $2995, considerably more affordable than the Canadian Hyperion. The Compaq Portable was one of the progenitors of today’s laptop; some called it a “suitcase computer” for its size and the look of its case. It was the second IBM PC compatible, being capable of running all software that would run on an IBM PC. It was a commercial success, selling 53,000 units in its first year.
The Compaq Portable was the first in the range of the Compaq Portable series. Compaq was able to market a legal IBM clone because IBM mostly used “off the shelf” parts for their PC. Furthermore, Microsoft had kept the right to license the operating system to other computer manufacturers. The only part which had to be duplicated was the BIOS, which Compaq did legally by using clean room reverse engineering for $1 million. Phoenix Technologies were the first to follow their lead, but soon “clone BIOSes” were available from several vendors.

As well as a plug to connect to Apple laptops’ mini display port, the new screens also pack a magsafe power cable, so they can charge laptops connected to them.
That’s on top of a USB cable, letting the screen act as a USB hub with three extra sockets at the back, and built in stereo speakers.

Samsung`s OLED laptop prototype
What a translated-from-the Korean Samsung page does reveal is that it’s an AMOLED (active matrix organic light-emitting diode) laptop prototype that Samsung’s display division developed for the Society for Information Display’s gathering in Los Angeles next week. According to Samsung, the prototype features a 12.1-inch screen with a 1,280×768 resolution. Perhaps we’ll be able to glean more information next week when the display scientists, engineers, and manufacturers get together. As for when we might see this product on store shelves, Samsung has previously stated it’ll start rolling out OLED TVs, monitors, and laptops in 2009.
Lenovo launches 13 new laptops, including ThinkPad X200
The baker's dozen breaks down as four new IdeaPads, a trio of small-to-medium business ThinkPads, called the SL-series, and a further six ThinkPads of the R, T, X and W variety. Full details and a hands-on video of the ThinkPad X200 after the cut.
Much as we'd love to run down the specs of all thirteen, over cofee perhaps, we'll leave the details to the press releases and pluck out the highlights.

Samsung laptop
Over the last decade, you've probably lusted after some sleekly designed Samsung cell phone, MP3 player, or flat-screen TV, but unfortunately you've never had the chance to lust after a Samsung laptop. That's because, unlike the rest of the world, Samsung's laptops have never been available in the U.S. – until now. Today, Samsung unveiled a new line of high-end portable computers, which will be available online at sites such as Amazon.com, NewEgg.com, Buy.com, and TigerDirect.com later this month. We got an early hands-on with the laptops when Samsung stopped for a visit a couple of weeks ago, and were impressed with the look and feel of the new models. The snazziest of the new models are the 13.3- and 14.1-inch ultra thin X360 and X460, which are designed to go head-to-head with the MacBook Air and the Lenovo X300. These two-toned beauties are just under three pounds and are said to have a superlative 10 hours of battery life, despite having SuperBright LED backlit displays. We're curious to try out the battery life for ourselves, but 10 hours is about as good as it gets. All in all are slick-looking laptops that won't take up much space in your backpack, but we wish they had built-in mobile broadband capability, as the Lenovo X300 and even smaller Sony TZ series do.
